JHFS Community Council

This team is composed of members that have have lived experience dealing with food system related issues or are apart of communities that have historically felt a disproportionate impacts of things like housing, displacement, food insecurity etc.Their current efforts are focused on self-sufficiency and community support. They are tasked with developing their own ideas/projects/businesses that can build security for themselves while supporting the community in direct or indirect ways.This group is currently closed to new members until the current cohort successfully reaches their goals for individual or collaborative projects.

Who is Miriam you ask? Let us tell you!
Miriam McBride is a bright and dedicated young person residing in Tacoma,Wa. Miriam has spent majority of their time in Tacoma being connected to community and creating healing and artistic spaces with their comrades. Miriam believes in the power of community and the ways we connect with each other. Miriam is dedicated to sharing and uplifting the revolutionary moments created by community. That is why they founded Truth Movement Innertainment, a photography and story telling company which stands on the values of community, Truth, and passion.
What Projects are they working on?
I’ve launched my website and portfolio for Truth Movement Innertainment. I’m looking to raise money to upgrade my equipment. I’m also looking to raise money to fund projects for what I call The Collective Team which is a collective of artists and service providers who are interested in creating community oriented projects and events. The money will go to fund the projects that we dream up and to pay the creatives involved.

Tell us about yourself!I am a local, national and international advocate for youth empowerment within broken communities. My service as a business development coach and mediator of youth and adult relationships will restructure our spending power and idendtify or dependency of each other.My goals are to restore clarity and awareness in black and indigenous communities by educating both of our disconnection and encouraging our unity to support one another constantly not temporarily.What Projects are you working on?
My project is to create a digital media platform (website) that builds awareness around business 2 business and business to consumer relations within the black and indigenous communities, but not limited to organic relationships in community as a whole.
Provide classes that assist in developing financial literacy and economic structure regardless if it's in entrepreneurship, career. work or education.Help black and indigenous people locate those they identify with in services. resources and opportunities for youth adults and elders.
